Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Music directors are proud to announce SCH’s return to Hershey Park for the Music in the Parks Festival adjudication this May 23rd. On May 23, SCH’s instrumental and vocal ensembles, including Jazz Ensemble, and Chamber Ensemble’s Hilltones and Laurelei, will travel to Hershey, PA, for this uniting experience between musicians and adjudicator-clinicians for set-list performances.

The goal when deciding set-list selection is to choose pieces to perform that not only challenge the group but also demonstrate their achievements in hard work and dedication. Adjudicators will include a ranking of each school’s performance, offer suggestions on how to improve the groups’ ensemble performance, and give occasional awards for specific students during the Awards Ceremony. Marlee Howard ’26, a sophomore at the time in SCH’s Laurelei A Cappella group, was awarded in 2024 for the “Best High School Vocalist.” Additionally, last year, Laurelei received a 94/100 and a 98/100 on their performances. Every performing musical group earns a trophy for participating in this event, following the completion of their set.
Groups will join from all over the United States and Canada to celebrate their musical growth, achievement, and recognition for taking part in music. This will be SCH’s last musical ensemble experience of the 2024-2025 school year, going beyond the spring concert season. After indulging in the musical experience, showcasing their talents, and hearing their feedback, students will then direct themselves to a thrill-seeking adventure at Hershey Park.
