The weather’s getting warmer, and Philadelphians can feel spring beginning to brew. Some look forward to the fine weather and the blossoming flowers, while others are looking forward to Sunday, May 4, as the 45th annual Broad Street Run will take place, with over 40,000 runners going through the city of Philadelphia, pushing to the finish.
The 10-mile course begins at 7 AM and starts at Fisher Avenue in North Philadelphia and carries on south along Broad Street through various neighborhoods in Philadelphia and finally concludes in South Philadelphia in the Navy Yard.
A few students in the SCH community plan to take part in the run, including a 10th grader at the school who asked to remain anonymous. “I’m excited to run, I’ve been preparing with a few of my friends and Ms. Dionne for a while now.” However, one week of running won’t be enough preparation for the hike. The athletes who have been planning to run have been training for this one day for over four months. I have been training to participate in the Broad Street run as well, I don’t expect the run to be easy. Yet, I believe with all my preparation I will be able to reach the finish line and celebrate all my hard work.”
