Karina is on the court and ready to go but still very nervous. This is Karina’s first squash match. The match has started and even though Karina is scared, she works hard, keeps pushing, and pulls out a win.
Karina Gandhi is a competitive squash player. Her journey started at age four at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. She noticed that squash was a very popular game at her country club and that it looked like a lot of fun.
As you know Karina did start playing squash at age four, but she only played for a month then took a break, then rejoined squash at age six. Karina’s twin brother Aryan, has been playing squash side by side with Karina for as long as they can remember, competing and pushing each other to their best. Like when Aryan cheered Karina on when she won the gold 11&U girls squash tournament. Karina also has an older brother named Krishan who used to play squash. Karina’s parents both play tennis and Karina’s dad plays a little bit of squash.
Currently Karina is going to practice consistently, about 4-5 days a week. Karina is also training for an 11&U gold tournament in Rhode Island. Karina is working towards being able to play in high school and college.
She’s not sure if she wants to go pro yet, but Karina said “I’ll decide in college and I hope I get better every time.”
