Honorable Mentions is a program managed by the Honor Council that highlights students who model SCH’s five core values: diversity, thoughtfulness, resilience, courage, and integrity. By publicly celebrating virtuous individuals, the Honor Council hopes to inspire students to live by a high standard of honor.
Honor Council was founded for the purpose of promoting academic and personal honor within the SCH community. Oftentimes, people find themselves in trouble for mistakes that they make. Seniors Arjun Goswami and David Xin, who currently manage the Honorable Mentions program, believe the community has greatly benefitted from highlighting student achievement through faculty recognition. “Students should be celebrated for their good deeds,” says Arjun.
The Honor Council advisors work with faculty to select multiple students in each grade from a pool of dozens of faculty-nominated students.
In Quarter 1, Ziya DeVeaux (9th), Jude Hackford (9th), Gabby Kilshaw (10th), Magnolia Lurie (10th), Quinn Seawright (11th), Drew Shmelzer (11th), Alexa Robles (12th), and Chilly Gallagher (12th) received an Honorable Mention.
