The deli style restaurant Liberty Kitchen opened a new location in Chestnut Hill’s Market at the Fareway. The Chestnut Hill location is one of three scattered around Philadelphia, including Fishtown, and University City.
Liberty Kitchen filled the vacant spot in the market previously held by Rank’s Deli.
Located only five minutes from SCH, juniors and seniors have been trying it during lunch. “We got the kale chicken caesar sandwich. It was so good, but it needed more caesar dressing,” said senior Haley Hamsher. “9.5/10 I would recommend,” Senior Taylor Foley added.
Liberty Kitchen’s menu features a variety of hoagies, cutlet, and house special sandwiches, as well as salads, and even a tomato pie. Liberty Kitchen even offers Philly inspired sandwich names including the “Vegan Jawn” and “Veggie Jawn.” Accompanying the ready-to-eat food is a selection of fresh meats and cheeses.
“I thought it was pretty good,” said Senior Trevor Saccomandi. “I had the chicken parm sandwich—the chicken cutlets and marinara were great, and the portion size was solid. I also really liked the sesame seed bread. The only downside was that it lacked mozzarella cheese, and the wait time was longer than other places in the market,”
With a variety of food and fresh ingredients Liberty Kitchen’s new Chestnut Hill location might become a usual lunch spot for SCH upperclassmen.
