Max Tonkon’s journey into music production began in eighth grade when he was in Mr. Glassman’s advisory, Mr. BW, introduced him to GarageBand. What started as a simple class project quickly turned into a passion, “For a CEL project, I made a song and since then it since then it started as a hobby, but now I’m producing like every night,” Max said.
Although his career has yet to take off, Max and two of his friends are taking steps to make their dreams a reality. Through their capstone project, they are launching a record label, hoping it will serve as a starting point for their aspirations. He mentions, “We anticipate that it will be when it starts to really launch.”
The team is already making moves in the industry, collaborating with OT7 Quanny’s brother, Mana. “We’re trying to drop a song with OT7 Quanny because we’re dropping with his brother in a few weeks. Our beats are getting better so we’re just gonna try to do more because that’s our goal for Capstone,” Max explained.
Max practices producing EDM, drawing inspiration from the popular radio show “A State of Trance”. He credits much of his growth to his former teacher, Mr BW, who continues to mentor him. “My advisor from eighth grade, Mr. Glassman, is also big mentor because he’s the one that’s helping me out a lot and Mr. BW has been helping me alot as well,” he shared.

While Max acknowledges the music industry is tough to break into, he remains committed to his craft. “I hope that we can exceed Capstone and maybe turn it into an actual profession. It’s a hard industry to crack into, but that would be a goal, for sure,” he said.
With determination and a mindset to surpass music production as a hobby, Max Tonkon and his friends are well on their way to making a name for themselves in the world of music.
