During their freshman year, students must take physics as their science course. As a fun, engaging, and educational experience, the school has planned for students to head to Hershey Park, where they will then be required to create a final project on the laws of physics. These students will choose a ride of their choice, roller coaster, Ferris wheel, or bumper cars, and must find the specific physics components of the ride such as velocity, energy used, or momentum. This experience allows students to take what they are learning in the classroom, and apply it to their everyday life. This trip is a highlight to many students’ freshman year memories. Usually, the trip is planned for the end of May, as a final hurrah for their first year in high school.
