How much work are teachers planning to do over Thanksgiving break?
“I’m planning to recuperate from getting my hip replacement during Thanksgiving break.”
“My goal is to get as much done as possible before Thanksgiving starts. we’ll see if I mean it or not, but I have a couple things coming in next week, so it might be tight, but I’m gonna try and do as much as I can so that I can take a break.”
“I’ll be doing some grading and planning, and I will do that after my children leave. And over the weekend, I’ll probably spend two or three hours doing those things.”
“I’m planning to completely unplug. Okay, now, whether that, like happens or not, it’s a little up in the air, but I’m gonna have family in town, so it’ll be nice to just get away from it.”
“To be honest, as a college counselor, I don’t have much to do over Thanksgiving break because I’ve already written all of my letters of recommendation for my students. And a lot of my students have already applied to many of their colleges, so I think I will not have to do too much over Thanksgiving break. After Thanksgiving break, I think students will be working on their regular decision application essays, and at that point, I will probably have to read some more essays and give some feedback. I’m also the Upper School diversity coordinator, and yeah, that part of my job never stops. We’re preparing for our big regional diversity conference right now.”
“Most important thing is to prep for the week after Thanksgiving break. So make sure that my, you know lessons are ready, that I’ve set up google classroom with the assignments that I want students to work on that, you know, my slides are ready to go, handouts, if I’m given handouts, worksheets, basically planning for the time after Thanksgiving, because it’s really only about three weeks, I think, after Thanksgiving, until we winter break for winter break, so that’s the most important thing that I have to do over break.”
“Besides planning to start a new unit, I will in both my classes, 10th grade and ninth grade, I will also be grading paragraphs in both ninth and 10th grade and discussion preparation charts, so it’s a lot of grading, especially grading writing. And some planning.”
“I’m hoping that over thanksgiving break, I’m not really gonna have much of a workload at all. I have a young kid who’s nine months old, so I’m hoping to just have family visiting and spend a lot of time with my kid. And, yeah, leave my workload here, return to it when I get back.”
