This year, the Middle School is peforming The Wizard of Oz. Ms. Painter, Mr. Heart, Ms. Tiffany, Ms. Navarra, Ms. Maidenbaum, Ms. Braak and Ms. Sasso, the teachers who take part in the drama program, chose the play because they thought that the students would enjoy putting on this production. They all decided in the spring and later confirmed with Ms. Bass to make sure that the show was acceptable for diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).

Ms. Heidi Painter is one of the SCH Middle School English teachers as well as a 7th grade boys advisor. She had stage fright and hated getting up and speaking in front of many people. Later in life however, she realized that being behind the curtain was just as good, if not better, then being on stage. She directed plays for fifteen years before coming to SCH and currently loves it. Ms. Painter’s favorite thing about being backstage is watching all the students shine on the stage during opening night. Her favorite part of the play is the second before the curtains are about to open and the room is filled with anticipation for the great production to begin
