Senior Ron brown decided to review McDonald’s burger offerings. Here is what he found.
Hamburger: The Classic McDonald’s Burger:
5/10 The classic McDonald’s burger is the concrete base of the bunch. If you are looking for a traditional burger from the ‘70s, this is for you. But for me, the burger is too simple. It has no cheese, just includes the original patty with pickles, ketchup, and mustard. The only reason this burger doesn’t get a lower score is because without this burger we would not have McDonald’s today.
Cheeseburger:
6/10 This is a great option especially when on a budget because you can find this on the value menu, which used to be the dollar menu. Now that inflation has gone up, the rating has gone down. Still, this was an essential in my childhood and brings joyous memories when I eat it. Although the bread sometimes overpowers the patty in taste, the burger itself is not bad. But it is still very basic.
Big Mac®
8/10 Big Mac is one of my go-tos when ordering McDonald’s because of the name that it has built for itself and its flavorfulness. Although most people complain that the bread-to-patty ratio is off because of the extra piece of bread, I feel that the bread is not that big of a deal. If anything, the bread helps fill me up, and also the Mac sauce is probably in the top five of all the fast food sauces out there. But the downside to this burger is the amount of lettuce that the workers decide to put on. Sometimes it feels like I am eating a salad when I want to eat a burger, which is holding it back from being a 9 to a potential 10.
Quarter Pounder®* with Cheese
8.5/10 This right here is one of McDonald’s best basic burgers because its meat-to-wheat ratio is perfect. Not too much bread, but not too much burger; it’s just right. McDonald’s knew what they were doing with this one because they give you everything that is on the basic burgers, BUT the extra meat makes the burger more flavorful and enjoyable for the consumer. The reason I do not put it over the Big Mac is because it is still a basic burger. To make your Quarter Pounder better, you can ask for Mac sauce on the burger.
Double Quarter Pounder®* with Cheese
9/10 This is another go-to in the Brown household because my dad and I both get it, and rightfully so. My father put me on to them. The Double Quarter Pounder is the first of two burgers to have more meat than wheat. If you aren’t looking for the lettuce-filled Big Mac then get the Double Quarter Pounder and ask for Mac sauce. It will change your life, and if you do this the burger can change from a 9 to a potential 10 with the sauce. The only downside about this burger is that it is a lot of calories and one of the most expensive burgers on the menu.
Quarter Pounder®* with Cheese and Bacon
6/10 The quarter pounder with bacon sounds amazing because it brings all this complexity and tries not to just be a regular burger. I am no bacon connoisseur, but the bacon is never crispy and doesn’t feel like real bacon. I would expect to have some crunch to my burger if bacon is in it, but I never get that crunch. The thing that makes this burger special is really bringing it down, so I would suggest just getting a regular quarter pounder and saving the money.
