Only twelve players in SCH history have the privilege of being able to say they’ve scored 1,000 points in a single season. This Friday, that number increased to thirteen.
Senior Guard Keni Williams etched his name in basketball history with eighteen points, two assists and two rebounds against Friends Select.
Williams’s eighteen point performance makes him the thirteenth player to score 1,000 points in a single season for the Blue Devils.
His performance allowed him to join his brother, Ke’Shawn Williams on the list, making them the first pair of brothers to appear on it since Tom and Tim Whitworth in 1998 and 1999 respectively.
However, despite his impressive outing, Williams’s performance wasn’t enough to get the Devils the win, as FSS defeated SCH 60-57 in a very competitive game on Friday.
SCH held the lead during the first quarter, but things changed during the second, as they shot the lights out during the second, cutting SCH’s lead to two, as the Devils led 33-31.
That second-quarter explosion helped to bring FSS right back into the game, as the two kept battling throughout the second half.
Late in the fourth, the game remained close, but the Devils struggled from the free throw line, as they couldn’t make space to pull any clean shots. Down 60-57, the Devils gave junior forward Owen Kelly the last shot, but it was blocked. The loss moves SCH to 14-2.
SCH’s next match up is against The Hill School this Sunday at 3:30, where they’ll look to improve their record to 15-2 before their first Inter-Ac game against GA.
