“Meeting my grandfather is my most valuable memory from Puerto Rico. He had dementia at the time, but it was special to talk to him and see what he was like. That was my dad’s dad. The most valuable thing I gained from being in Puerto Rico is just making sure you stay connected to your family roots. When I went, I didn’t realize how many cousins and extended family members I had there. Understanding my roots and what makes my family unique is definitely something I value.”
