Organized by the SCHspace club and student leaders Reid Knoblock and Quinton McDonnell, 20 students and alumni gathered on the Upper School campus to view the annual Perseids Meteor shower. Nicknamed after the constellation Perseus, the Perseids Meteor Shower occurs every year around August 12, when space debris, dust, and other particles enter the Earth’s atmosphere. The atmosphere burns the debris, creating a meteor shower. The best time to view this natural phenomenon from Pennsylvania is early in the morning between 12 and 2 AM, as the Earth is turning directly into the path of debris to create a beautiful meteor shower.
