The 2025 Grammy’s was up for debate because of the recent wildfires in California. On Sunday night they proved that nothing could stop the Grammys and the show must go on.
Many of the songs performed creatively alluded to the fires. For example, Randy Nueman performed “I Love LA” and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars performed “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas and Papas.
After starting her music career in the 90s, Beyonce finally won Album of the Year for “Cowboy Carter.” The first thing she did when she got on stage was praise and thank the firefighters for “Keeping Us Safe.” Her face was shocked and pleasantly surprised when her name was called.
“Wow, I wasn’t expecting this,” said Beyonce. She then dedicated her award to Linda Martell, a fellow black country singer who was featured on her new album. Before leaving the stage she hugged her daughter Blue Ivory who she had brought on stage with her.
Trevor Noah then took the mic and said “We Finally saw it happen, everyone.” This award makes Beyonce the first Black woman to win Album of the Year since 1999.
