Dear SCH,
Welcome back to The Campus Lantern!
This is our third print edition since our student newspaper’s revival last fall, and it is our longest yet! These twelve pages are packed full of work from both the Journalism class and our newspaper activity, with robust content ranging from SCH parking problems to eco-friendly urban living, all the way to the long-standing Upper School faculty fantasy football league.
In this issue, we shine a special light on something that’s on everyone’s mind: the upcoming presidential election. Two election-related articles on the front page illuminate some of the happenings, experiences, and feelings within our community regarding the current political landscape.
This year, the structure of The Campus Lantern has seen a massive, important change: our website, schcampuslantern.org, is now updated every time new content rolls in! You can download the free Student News Source App on your phone to receive a push notification whenever we upload. I also recommend following our Instagram – @schcampuslantern. We use the platform to highlight new stories, post fun video content, and promote ads for campus events. If you love Instagram or social media, come join us and become a content creator!
Finally, I want to reiterate that The Campus Lantern not only welcomes, but also finds a role for everyone. If you don’t consider yourself a writer, we can help you become one… but there is so much more you can do. Come take photos, conduct interviews, draw cartoons, or design Instagram posts! Drop into Ms. Gellhorn’s room for a meeting on a Tuesday or Thursday sometime, or stop by at an SAS. See what we’re all about. You won’t regret it. Whatever you want to do with The Campus Lantern, we can make it happen. The Campus Lantern is your canvas, and for us, it is only up from here.
As always, thank you so much for your support. Happy reading!
Sincerely,
Griffy Whitman ‘25
