Students meet in the CEL space to talk with Afghanis displaced in Iran

Students meet in the CEL space to talk with Afghanis displaced in Iran

Who: Sam Harris, a junior, and SCH student volunteers
What: Virtual Zoom meetings between SCH students and Afghan students living in Iran about film and culture. One SCH student meets with three Afghan students and they discuss topics chosen by the Afghan students, such as food, poetry, or their favorite subjects.
When: Sam began working on HEELA for his sophomore CEL Capstone project. The first meeting for the team was on Friday, March 8th! Meetings are on Tuesdays and Thursdays during activities.
Where: CEL mainspace
Why: This team of students want to support Afghan students living in Iran and facilitate opportunities for conversation between cultures, while creating an environment for language enrichment and education for both sides of the call.
How: Students can participate in calls on various interesting topics and days by signing up to join the team with this Google form.
