Our Philadelphia Eagles are one win away from clinching their second Superbowl win. Sunday, January 26, 2025, the Eagles faced off against the young and improved Washington Commanders led by rookie Jayden Daniels and secured a 55-23 victory. If you aren’t familiar with Philadelphia and the love for the city’s sports then you haven’t experienced the meaning of the saying “The City of Brotherly Love.” After the big win against the Commanders, fans were excited and rushed to Broad Street in North Philadelphia. The normally calm and somewhat busy street transformed into a sea of silver, white, and green.
As fans were chanting, yelling, honking car horns, and making noise for their home team, you could feel the energy surging as the night continued. People hanging from street signs, dancing on top of cars, and singing Philadelphia anthems in excitement made the total experience second to none. “I seen a lot of dance circles, people climbing on top onto poles, a lot of Saquan Barkley jerseys, and of course a lot of green,” Zarin DeVeaux ’25 said about her late-night experience at Broad Street.
From every social media platform you could name, outside viewers could tell that contagious energy was infectious to the many people of Philadelphia. It was a celebration that only moved the Eagles toward a one-more-game-victory felt as if they had already won the Super Bowl. I expect “when” the Philadelphia Eagles secure a Super Bowl victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 9, the night and the following week in Philadelphia will be even more insane than the preview we faced two weeks ago.
