In recent years, licensed drivers in the SCH community have been swarmed by potholes, all around Chestnut Hill – the stress put on the road poses a threat to public safety for those on it.
These holes that have been left unfilled for months, are just one of many headaches for SCH seniors, and especially difficult for those who are new to driving around the Ave.
“Last year there was this really big hole. Like, you literally would have to, like, go into the other lane to get around and, especially when you were in the school bus.” SCH Senior, Florence Ajunwa, stated. ”Literally, that was there for five months before they were able to fix it. For the record, it wasn’t even winter yet.”
The recent downpours have been causing water underground to freeze, and expand, causing even more cracks to form in the already ridged streets. Until further funding is put towards rehabilitating the roads, the Ave will continue to be a hazardous area to drive through.
