Philadelphia sports fans are starting to invest in the Sixers again, as the team’s hot start is turning heads all over the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers have started the new 2025-26 season 4-0. The team’s two young stars, VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey, have led the way, averaging 22 and 37 points respectively per game. After the recent seasons being a let-down for the team, this talent is bringing excitement back to Philadelphia.
Injuries and inconsistencies have left Sixers fans feeling let down during the last few seasons, losing hope for the future of the team. But after these painful years, a new hope has emerged in Philadelphia.
The former MVP Joel Embiid, after seasons of constant injuries, is finally getting back into his flow, averaging 16 points per game on limited minutes so far. Guard Tyrese Maxey is taking over a leadership position on the team, averaging a whopping 37 points per game so far, while bringing positive energy to the team that fans love. With their third pick in last season’s draft, the Sixers took VJ Edgecombe out of Baylor, and his stellar performances to start the year have proved that this was the right selection.
Behind these three stars, the Sixers have a strong group of role players who bring extra sparks to the lineup. Quentin Grimes, for example, provided defense and scoring to the lineup when the team needed it. To add to this excitement, the Sixers are doing this without all-star veteran Paul George and second-year star Jared McCain, who are currently out with injuries but will be back this season. Sixers coach Nick Nurse spoke on the success: “Just the little things keep adding up… I think those guys are playing so well together out there that it’s making it too hard to hone in on any single one of them.”
Beyond the talent, what fans have loved the most so far about the team is the young and exciting energy they bring on and off the court. These players make it look fun while they play, combining their team chemistry with their passion for the game, and it has brought life back to the Wells Fargo Center. People around the SCH community have recently been talking about the team. Fan of the team Stewart Greenleaf said, “I have watched the first couple games, and the team is so much fun to watch. It makes me really excited for this season, which is nice coming off some bad seasons.”
After years of heartbreak, Sixers fans who stuck around now could be a part of something special during the 2025-26 season.
