RAM, or Random Access Memory, is used to store data in electronic devices, and as of now, the prices are skyrocketing due to a shortage.
The RAM shortage is being caused by high demand from AI data centers, and the manufacturers can’t keep up.
The price for DDR4-3200 2X16GB, one of the most common types, went from under $100 at the beginning of 2025, to over $250 today. That is over a 150 percent increase.
If the shortage continues, electronic devices will become more expensive, and may not store data as well as they used to.
As long as the shortage lasts, prices for electronics will continue to go up, affecting things like smartphones, laptops, computers, and cars.
