On January 25, 2026, Alex Pretti was fatally shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis.
He was filming an agent who was detaining someone, and he tried to get a closer look. An agent then pushed a civilian to the ground, and Mr. Pretti tried to intervene.
The same agent then sprayed pepper spray in Mr. Pretti’s face, while he was still filming. As he was being sprayed, he helped the civilian get back up.
He was then grabbed by several agents who pinned him to the ground. At this point, there were around eight agents, when one of them took out his weapon and pointed it at Mr. Pretti.
Mr. Pretti had a legal weapon on his body, which was first removed.
Mr. Pretti was then shot, and agents started to move away. At least ten shots were fired.
The two agents who shot Mr. Pretti are currently on leave.
Mr. Pretti was the second victim of an ICE shooting in Minneapolis this month, the first being Renee Good.
