Dear SCH,
The second print edition of the year is finally here!
This edition places an emphasis on profiles, with 4 pages dedicated to telling the stories of individuals in our community. From parents to students, our staff did an incredible job of highlighting some people who make SCH such a special place.
But profiles aren’t the only stories in this edition. We also have details on pressing news stories, like the speed bumps recently installed throughout Chestnut Hill and the shocking jewelry heist at the Louvre, one of the world’s most famous art museums.
Additionally, this edition has a number of articles centered around Arts & Culture, both at SCH and across the globe. Clare Murphey and Gray David each wrote brilliant reviews of Taylor Swift’s newest studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, with varying opinions on the overall quality of the project. Closer to home, my article on Cabaret highlights what makes the show so special to performers, with Roman Bostick ’26 and Tristyn Howard ’27 each sharing their inspiration for performing and reflecting on the night.
Sports are also a key focus of the edition, with a number of outstanding stories centred around sports at SCH and across greater Philadelphia. One article, written by Roman Bostick ’26, includes an interview of SCH Alum Ke’Shawn Williams, who is currently playing wide receiver and starting as punt returner for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Another story, written by Brady Grieve ‘27, focuses on the Chestnut Hill Classic Squash Tournament that will be held this week at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, and how Eloise Levin ‘26 is preparing for her involvement in the professional competition.
Finally, the ever-popular Campus Flashlight bookends the edition, with stories focused on the cafeteria’s cookies and SCH students’ controversial romantic relationships with ChatGPT.
Our staff put a ton of effort into this edition, and we’re incredibly grateful for each of you who takes the time to read our work. As a reminder, we host meetings every Tuesday and Thursday during break in Ms. Gellhorn’s room, and anyone in the community is welcome to join us and work on an article. We hope to see you there!
Until next time,
Michael Goff
